ANYONE who has attended a drag race can tell you, "If there is no traction there is no race." Yet some in the church are trying to cling to a false gospel using claims and documentation other than the Word of God. A fitting answer to this slippery slide comes from Jaynan L. Clark, a woman that I name as a friend and sister in Christ. Read her words as she comments on false reasonings that attempt to justify the position and ersatz constitutional politics of the apostate Evangelical Lutheran Church in America...
"Constitutions are just that. .. . constitutions. In the circumstances that a high priest, elder or scribe was using a constitution to bend, sway, demean and confuse people into slavery to an institution which needs parochial reports that read as something other than obituaries and are in violation of their own so called constitution as they do not regard the Word of God as the source and norm for all of faith and life --well then. . . what would Jesus say? What DOES Jesus say? This is straight forward contemporary, real life Bible study. The Living Word dwells among you there... Jesus Himself is asking, "Who has brought this confusion among you?" The "woes to you!" shall certainly follow as hirelings and religious unbelievers cannot hide from Him. All who want to play organized institutionalized religion have to answer to the One who questioned it then in the streets of Jerusalem, on the roads through Germany, everywhere---everytime including now. This is Jesus we are talking about and He is not tolerant, accepting and fair---He is not reasonable or rational. He is the great I AM and He is sick and tired of those who play games and hide behind His name and run over His Word--instilling the doubt that "It is written" is no longer relevant or authoritative let alone life giving. To obey them--to even listen to them as authoritative in any way over life and faith in The Crucified One is to practice idolatry. Hand (them) a Bible and in the other hand a copy of the Augsburg Confession--Article 28 and ask (them) to explain in a public setting by what authority (they) do these things. The sheep have been scattered and the one and only Good Shepherd is not coming into this situation singing a lukewarm campsong that seeks a "peace" that the world understands but rather with a Word that is sharp and promises denial of the self and life in Him alone. This is not about courage or leadership or anything else-- this is about being beggars and strayed followers who pray in unison to be put back on "The Way"."
Our thanks to Jaynan and echo the call for prophets of the Most High to give similar voice. "Roberts Rules of Order" may be a guide for an orderly meeting, but precedence is called for by the One who led Israel by a pillar of fire... "I AM the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage." (Exodus 20:2)
